Former Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda today visited more than a dozen flood-affected villages and areas, and demanded compensation for losses suffered to crops, homes and shops.

Rohtak, September 6, 2025: Former Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda today visited more than a dozen flood-affected villages and areas, and demanded compensation for losses suffered to crops, homes and shops.
Sharing their plight, affected people told how their crops have been completely destroyed due to water logging and cracks have appeared in the houses. “The maximum damage has been done in the areas in the fields or near the fields. The government is being sluggish in relief and rescue operations, due to which the situation has become more frightening,” former CM alleged.
Talking to media persons at his Model Town residence after the visit, Hooda said he will visit the flood-affected areas of Meham and Kalanaur on Sunday. He added he will go to the entire state. He demanded that the government should immediately get special Girdawari done and give compensation to the farmers. The crop standing in the fields has been destroyed, and given the condition of water logging, there is no hope of the coming crop. Therefore, farmers should get compensation of at least Rs 60-70,000 per acre.
“The government should immediately get special Girdawari done instead of going to the portal; and provide financial help to the farmers. The government registers cases for stubble burning with the help of satellite images, but when it comes to flood, disease and other disasters, the farmers are handed over to the portal,” he stated.
“BJP has made the portal a means of running away from its responsibility and delaying compensation,” he added. Hooda also demanded compensation for the damage caused to people's houses, shops and other buildings.
The former CM demanded that the central government should also immediately announce a relief package for flood-affected states like Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand. “The Union Agriculture Minister should also visit Haryana along with Punjab, where 100 percent of the crop has been damaged in half the area,” he added.
Hooda said as a responsible opposition, Congress had started warning the government before the monsoon, but like every time, the BJP, intoxicated with power, did not wake from their slumber. Neither the canals were cleaned in time, nor the sewerage in the cities. Neither embankments strengthened nor any passage made for water drainage. Instead of making arrangements for the rain, the government kept committing scams in the name of cleaning and sewerage systems. This is the reason that as soon as the rain started, alleys, roads, villages, cities and fields; all turned into ponds,” he added.
The former Chief Minister said this flood is not just natural calamity, but the incompetence of the BJP government is also responsible for it. “Today more than half of Haryana is struggling with floods. People of the affected areas are pleading for government assistance, relief material and compensation. The government should do this work without delay,” he added.
Responding to the questions of journalists, Hooda said the Election Commission, which is asking for an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi, should first give an affidavit itself. “The Election Commission should give in writing that there are no fake voters or one person has two votes. If the Commission gives in writing, we are ready to give it countless proofs. The Commission is asking for an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi to cover up its misdeeds,” he pointed out.
Hooda also alleged that there is the scam of crores of Rupees in making BPL cards in Haryana. “As the elections came near, lakhs of BPL cards were made in a hurry. Cards were made even for those people who were ineligible for it. By doing this, BJP took votes of lakhs of people in the elections and now after forming the government for the third time, it has started showing its true colours. Now BPL cards of thousands of families are being cancelled every day,” he stated.
