Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday accused the BJP government of pushing the state’s youth towards drugs, firearms and migration due to rising unemployment.

Rohtak, September 26, 2026: Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday accused the BJP government of pushing the state’s youth towards drugs, firearms and migration due to rising unemployment.
“Frustrated by lack of jobs, youngsters are falling prey to drugs and crime, while many are being forced to leave Haryana or the country in search of employment,” Hooda said during his village outreach in Pakasma, Kasrenti, Morkheri, Atayal, Dhatod and Gizhi. His ongoing constituency tour is aimed at seeking public views on the Congress’s future political course.
Hooda said villagers had urged him to launch a fresh struggle against the BJP across Haryana. He alleged that people had become disillusioned with the state government and accused it of coming to power through “vote theft” and collusion with the Election Commission.
Highlighting the Congress government’s 2005–14 record, Hooda listed institutions and projects established during its tenure, including IIM Rohtak, AIIMS Jhajjar, National Cancer Institute, Central University Mahendragarh, NIFT Panchkula and several universities and medical institutions.
He also cited the Rohtak-Rewari and Jind-Sonipat railway lines and Metro connectivity as major Congress-era projects, alleging that the BJP government had no comparable achievement to showcase across Haryana.
Hooda said the BJP government had “lost the confidence of the people” and called for a fresh political struggle across the state.
