Rohtak, January 27, 2026:  Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that every section of society; including farmers, laborers, employees, traders, businessmen, children, the elderly, rural and urban residents, Dalits, backward classes, women, and sportspersons, are troubled by the BJP government.

Attacking the BJP in a poetic style, Hooda said,”Every leaf is wounded, every branch is in pain, O garden, tell me, who is your gardener?’

Talking to media persons at Rohtak, former CM Hooda said it is unclear whether the state's BJP government is being run from Delhi or Chandigarh. “It seems that a system of "Wk Phool, Do Mali" is in place here, meaning there is one flower, but two gardeners, and both are without fertilizer and water,” he said, attacking the double-engine governance model of the BJP.

Earlier, the former Chief Minister extended Republic Day greetings to the people of the country and the state. He said the Constitution was created on November 26, 1949, and implemented on January 26, 1950. The Constitution granted all citizens equality, participation, and all democratic rights. “The BJP is constantly trying to weaken it because it is targeting all constitutional institutions. Congress will fight resolutely against all such attempts and will not allow any harm to come to the dignity of the Constitution,” he added.

Responding to a question on the SYL canal issue, Hooda said since the Supreme Court's decision decided in in favor of Haryana, the responsibility of implementing it rests with the central and state governments. “But despite having BJP governments at both levels, Haryana is not getting its rightful share of water. “We have repeatedly said that the government should file a contempt of court case against the Punjab government in the Supreme Court. Instead of doing this, the government is only wasting time with talks and meetings. This is because the BJP does not want Haryana to get its rightful share of water,” he said.

Speaking on the budget, Hooda said the BJP, after coming to power, has consistently ruined the state's economy. “The state, which had a debt of only Rs 70,000 crore from its formation until 2014, now has a debt of Rs 5 lakh crore. Haryana has slipped to 14th position among 18 states in the NITI Aayog's Fiscal Health Index,” he pointed out.

“In this situation, the government repeatedly stages a drama of seeking suggestions from the opposition regarding the budget to cover up its failures. “The opposition has sent its suggestions to this government several times, but the BJP has not acted on any of them. Therefore, Congress MLAs will no longer fall for this ploy of giving suggestions on the budget. They will give their reaction only after the budget is presented,” he said.

Hooda said the BJP had created lakhs of fake ration cards to garner votes in the elections. Now, after the elections, more than 14 lakh ration cards have been cancelled. “It is clear that this is not just a scam involving rations, but also a scam involving the public mandate,” he pointed out.

In response to a question about the INLD, Hooda reiterated that the INLD is completely the B-team of the BJP. “The public has known this from the beginning. Now, even the BJP itself has accepted this fact,” he quipped.

MLAs B.B. Batra and Shakuntala Khatak, former minister Subhash Batra and Anand Singh Dangi, and others were present.
