Rohtak, September.7, 2025: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda visited the flood-affected areas for the second consecutive day today and listened to the problems of the people, and instructed administrative officials to provide immediate disaster relief to people.

Talking to journalists during the visit, he said that the situation of flood and water logging remains very serious due to the failure of the BJP government. “People need immediate help and compensation, but instead of getting a special Girdawari of the damage done, the government has once again handed over the people to the portal,” he stated.

“For the last several years, instead of giving compensation, the government is playing the game of portals. Due to this system, 90 percent of the people suffering from any disaster do not get compensation. Even the compensation that a few farmers get, takes several months. That is why the Congress and all the victims demand that leaving the hassle of the portal, financial help should be directly provided to the farmers,” he added.

Hooda, who himself drove a tractor along with the farmers to visit the flood-affected areas of Meham and Kalanaur constituency, said that the entire standing crop in the fields has been destroyed. “Looking at the water logging, there is no hope of the upcoming crop. Therefore, farmers should get compensation of at least Rs 60-70,000 per acre,” he noted.

“Along with this, the government should also give compensation to compensate for the damage caused to people's houses, shops and other buildings. The central government should also announce a relief package for flood-affected states like Haryana, Punjab, Himachal,” he demanded.

Hooda said that when a similar flood occurred in 1995, he himself brought the then Union Agriculture Minister Balram Jakhar to Haryana. “At that time, the Congress government had given compensation to the farmers for every loss including the farm sheds, tube wells, all the houses and shops along with the crops. But the current government registers the case of stubble burning by looking at the satellite image and when it comes to giving compensation, the farmers are handed over to the portal,” he said.

“BJP has made the portal a means to escape from its responsibility and delay compensation. Similarly, in the recent past, seeing the shortage of fertilizers and to hide the shortage of fertilizers, the farmers were also handed over to the portal while running away from their responsibility,” he added.

Hooda said the BJP government neither cleaned the canals in time nor did it clean sewage in the cities, nor did it strengthen the embankments and nor did it make any way for water drainage. “This is the reason why as soon as the rains started, the streets, roads, villages, cities and fields, all turned into ponds. That is, this flood is not just the wrath of nature, but has also been caused by the incompetence of the BJP government. This is the spirit of the people of Haryana and Punjab who are helping each other,” he said.
