Ludhiana, July 30, 2012: A jatha of about 500 persons of Communist Party of India (CPI) Ludhiana led by Kartar Singh Bowani – Distt. Secretary, DP Maur – Asstt. Secretary, Ramesh Rattan – City Secretary will leave for Delhi tomorrow evening to participate in the dharna for Food Security to all. According to the party leader Dr. Arun Mitra, the left parties including CPI, CPI (M), RSP and Forward Block are already there to highlight the issues. He asserted that food security and clean drinking water to all is the duty of the governments and these are the basic human rights of every citizen.
Adding, Dr. Mitra said each government was obliged to provide these. “India is a signatory to the world food summit and is therefore bound by the international commitment”, he remarked. He told that on each day of the dharna comrades from different states would participate.
The CPI Punjab unit would stage the dharna on August 1, he said, adding, about 5,000 party men from Punjab would participate in the dharna.
