Rohtak, November 5, 2025: A review meeting of the Women & Child Development Department (WCD) was held under the chairmanship of DC Sachin Gupta at the Mini Secretariat Conference Hall.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed departmental performance and directed officers to ensure that all Anganwadi Centres have essential facilities such as water, electricity, and toilets. He emphasized that improving nutrition, early learning, and women’s safety must remain the department’s top priority through innovative and community-driven initiatives.

District Programme Officer (WCD) presented seven innovative projects being implemented across Rohtak district to improve service delivery and outcomes in women and child welfare.

 

1.  Suposhan Rohtak – Smart Nutrition Mission & Poshan Vatika
A comprehensive Smart Nutrition Mission for children (0–6 years), adolescent girls, and pregnant women with real-time data monitoring through a mobile app.
Nutri Gardens (Poshan Vatika) are being developed in Anganwadis and households to grow moringa, spinach, carrots, and other nutrient-rich produce.
Community Nutri Kitchens, operated by SHGs, demonstrate low-cost, high-nutrition local recipes using garden produce and traditional foods.

2.  Anganwadi Plus – Model Early Learning Centres
Transformation of Anganwadis into Smart Early Childhood Development Centres equipped with educational toys, puzzles, digital kits, and child-friendly learning spaces.
Monthly “Bachpan Chaupal” sessions promote parental engagement and school readiness for children.

3.  Sashakt Rohtak – Women Empowerment Hubs
Creation of Block-level Women Resource Centres for training in digital literacy, financial awareness, and self-defence.
Promotion of SHG-led micro-enterprises in tailoring, food processing, and herbal products with market linkages on GeM and ONDC platforms.

4.  Nanhi Shakti – Adolescent Girls Programme
Empowering adolescent girls through menstrual hygiene management, leadership, life skills, and digital awareness.
Formation of Peer Mentor Networks where older girls guide and support younger adolescents.

5.  Suraksha Rohtak – Safe Women, Safe Children
Comprehensive initiative ensuring CCTV coverage, child protection protocols, and safety audits in all Anganwadi Centres.
Village-level “Maa Suraksha Samitis” are being formed as community watch groups for women and child safety.
The initiative is integrated with Helpline 112 to ensure quick reporting and response to any safety concerns.

6. First 1,000 Days Programme
Focused intervention for maternal and infant health, integrating nutrition, AYUSH-based wellness counselling, and early stimulation activities.
Growth tracking and home visits ensure personalized care during the crucial 1,000-day window from conception to two years of age.

7.  Rohtak Bal Utsav – Child Talent & Creativity Festival
District-level festival to showcase the creative talents of Anganwadi and school children through songs, art, skits, and storytelling.
The initiative promotes parental involvement and boosts children’s confidence and social development.

 

DC Sachin Gupta said that Rohtak district is committed to becoming a model in Women and Child Development through innovation, technology, and community participation.

He emphasized that each initiative should deliver measurable improvements in child nutrition, early learning, safety, and women’s empowerment. He instructed the District Programme Officer (WCD) to ensure field-level implementation, regular inspections, and convergence with Health, Education, and PRIs for maximum impact.

The meeting was attended by the District Programme Officer (WCD), CDPOs, Child Protection Officer, Protection & Child Marriage Prohibition Officer, Nutrition Coordinator, and PMMVY Assistant, along with other departmental officials.
