Rohtak, November 3, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that permanent solutions will be implemented for the drainage and waterlogging issues affecting agricultural lands in Rohtak district.

 

He was presiding over a meeting with officials of the Irrigation Department at his camp office regarding the district’s flood agenda to be presented in the 57th meeting of the State Flood Control Board. The Irrigation Department has already forwarded all flood management projects prepared under the district flood agenda to the headquarters.

 

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the district administration has identified and listed all villages that face recurrent waterlogging problems in agricultural fields. Permanent drainage projects have been formulated for these identified areas and sent to the Irrigation Department for inclusion in the flood control agenda.

 

He said that the Rohtak flood agenda includes multi-crore projects aimed at strengthening the district’s flood preparedness and water drainage systems. The agenda will be presented in the upcoming 57th meeting of the Flood Control Board, to be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

 

DC Sachin Gupta said that work on all approved projects will begin immediately after the Board’s approval. The flood agenda covers key components related to flood forecasting, prevention, and relief operations, as well as long-term measures to minimize future occurrences of flooding and waterlogging.

 

The agenda includes proposals for:
• Laying new pipelines for drainage,
• Enhancing the capacity of existing drains,
• Strengthening embankments,
• Procurement of pump sets for water evacuation,
• Conversion of pipe culverts to box culverts, and
• Construction of RCC turfing along critical stretches.

 

During the meeting, SE irrigation, Balraj Chauhan presented detailed information about the flood agenda. The meeting was also attended by XEn Anurudh Munjal, Rajeev Rathi, and Rajesh Bhardwaj, DRO Pramod Chahal, DDPO Rajpal Chahal, and SDOs Sujit and Ankit, among others.
