Ludhiana, September 6, 2023: A grand welcome was accorded to Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana on his arrival at Sahnewal airport, near here, in the opening flight from Hindon airport to Sahnewal airport on Wednesday.

Those who accorded him warm welcome included leading industrialists Gagan Khanna, Harish kaura and Upkar Singh Ahuja.  Arora had boarded in the flight from Hindon Airport after a ceremony held there in the presence of the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh (retd) and the Minister handed over him the first Boarding Pass for the inaugural flight from Hindon to Sahnewal. 

The flight arrived at around 3.25 pm at Sahnewal Airport where a large number of jubilant Ludhianvis garlanded him and presented flowers to express their pleasure over the much-awaited opening ceremony. It may be mentioned here that the air traffic between Delhi and Sahnewal was discontinued on August 31, 2020.  As such, Ludhianvis were overwhelmed due to resumption of these flights after passage of about three years. 

In his statement, Arora expressed his thanks to the Minister of Civil Aviation (MoCA) Jyotiraditya M Scindia, the MoCA Secretary and Big Charter Pvt Ltd Managing Director Sanjay Mandavia for acceding to his request of resuming the flight. He said it was really a matter of joy and pride for every resident of Ludhiana that air connectivity has been resumed after three years. He remarked, “I think this a gift to people of Ludhiana.” He said soon the Halwara International Airport will start functioning, adding that he was happy that his concrete and sincere efforts are yielding positive results.

Meanwhile, Arora returned to Delhi in the same flight that departed at 4.55 pm. The departure flight was flagged off by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. 

Arora thanked Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann for sparing his time and participating in the event and flagging off the departure flight from Sahnewal Airport. 

“The today’s event has become a bigger one with Punjab CM’s presence”, Arora remarked.

It is also mentioned here that Arora also held a detailed discussion with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Lounge of the Sahnewal Airport. Various development projects of Ludhiana, including Halwara Airport, elevated road and cycle track were discussed in presence of the government officers.
