Five years rigorous imprisonment in bribery case of Rs.2 lakhs

New Delhi, April 25, 2014:The Special Judge (West) Anti-corruption, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) has convicted  Diwakar Tripathi, then Superintendent &  Rajiv Kumar Singh, then UDC, both of Narcotics Control Bureau, Mahanagar, Lucknow (U.P) in a bribery case of Rs.Two Lakhs and sentenced them to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 90,000 each.

A case was registered by CBI on a complaint. The complainant alleged that his friend was illegally detained at Narcotics Control Bureau, Mahanagar, Lucknow Office by Superintendent Diwakar Tripathi and the Superintendent threatened to implicate his friend in fake case if he was not paid a bribe of Rs. 5,00,000.

CBI laid a trap and, both i Diwakar Triapthi & his clerk Rajiv Kumar Singh were caught while accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,00,000 from the Complainant.

After completion of the investigation, the Charge Sheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge (West), Anti- corruption, Lucknow on 29.06.2012 against Diwakar Tripathi, the then Supdt. and Shri Rajiv Kumar Singh, then UDC, both of NCB, Lucknow. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
