Five years imprisonment with fine to then GM of ONGC for accepting bribe

New Delhi/Jalandhar, August 26, 2013:The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Ahmedabad has convicted  Prakash Mehta then General Manager(TPL) ONGC Ltd. Baroda (Gujarat) and sentenced him to undergo five years Simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 45,000 in a bribery case.

A case was registered on August 11, 2000 against Prakash Mehta, General Manager (TPL), ONGC Ltd., Baroda for demanding a bribe from the Complainant for allotment of a rate contract to his firm. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the Complainant.

A charge sheet was filed on November 16, 2000.The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
