Five days vocational training course on “goat farming” at KVK, Sangrur

A five days vocational training course on “Goat Farming” was organized under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana at KVK, Kheri (Sangrur) from June 21 to June 27 in which 30 farmers/rural youth from the districts of Sangrur and Barnala participated. The training course was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK, Sangrur.

Ludhiana, June 28, 2023: A five days vocational training course on “Goat Farming” was organized under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana at KVK, Kheri (Sangrur) from June 21 to June 27 in which 30 farmers/rural youth from the districts of Sangrur and Barnala participated. The training course was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK, Sangrur.

Ludhiana, June 28, 2023: A five days vocational training course on “Goat Farming” was organized under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana at KVK, Kheri (Sangrur) from June 21 to June 27 in which 30 farmers/rural youth from the districts of Sangrur and Barnala participated. The training course was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK, Sangrur.

On the very first day, Dr. Mandeep Singh extended a warm welcome to the participants and shared the mandates and working of KVK with them. He highlighted the importance and scope of goat farming as a subsidiary occupation in agriculture and inspired the trainees to adopt goat farming for income and employment generation. The trainees were also made aware about the economics of goat farming and method of record keeping.

Dr. Parteek Singh, Extension Assistant (Animal Science) acted as course coordinator and imparted detailed knowledge on goat farming, goat breeds, feeding, housing, vaccination and other management techniques for running a scientific and successful goat farm.

Dr. Gurlal Singh Gill, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) KVK, Faridkot delivered lecture on goat housing and its management to the trainees.

Vishal Dudeja, Deputy Manager, SBI, Sangrur provided useful information on subsidy and loan schemes of the bank.

Sanjay Kumar, Veterinary Officer spoke on goat diseases and its management.

An exposure visit was organised to the farms of two progressive goatery farmers Hardeep Singh of village Gaggarpur and Bunty Singh of village Kular Khurd where trainees had a fruitful interaction and gained the important tips. Literature on goat was also provided to the trainees.
