FIVE day training on e-governance conducted successfully

Chandigarh, February 13, 2013: The five days Specialised Training for e-Governance Program (STeP) on e-governance project management has been conducted successfully by Punjab Governance Reforms Department, in coordination with National Institute of SMART Government (NISG), Hyderabad at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MAGSIPA), Sector 26, Chandigarh. The workshop was inaugurated by Rajnish Malhotra, Head, SeMT.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Directorate of Governance Reforms, Punjab said that this workshop was organised for Directors, Joint Directors, Project Managers and Nodal Officers of state government to equip them with skills and knowledge on project management for e-governance projects. Those are being implemented under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) and also other state level e-governance initiatives. The workshop was attended by officers from various state departments.

The spokespersons further said that during this five day program, participants were sensitised on how to effectively scope the project and also to estimate the efforts, time duration of each activity for the project including work-breakdown structure and critical path for the project. Participants were also trained on how to assess and foresee the risks associated with the project.

Addressing the gathering, Rajnish Malhotra stressed on the issue of effective project management for success of all e-Governance projects.

C. Roul, Principal Secretary, Governance Reforms shared his perspective on e-Governance. He threw light on effective Business Process Re-engineering for ensuring success of all e-Governance activities. He shared his experience on effective citizen services delivery through e-District mission mode project under NeGP.

Roul assured that through this project, citizen services could be provided in a hassle free, transparent and time-bound manner. He also distributed certificates to the officials of various state departments for participating in the workshop.
