Fit India Movement: Children to run for fitness in ‘juniorthon’, registrations declared open
Chandigarh, November 10, 2019: In an endeavor to promote health, fitness and disease-free lifestyle for the young generation, Northridge International School Sector-46 Chandigarh in collaboration with Sports- 13 is organizing a ‘running’ based sports event ‘Juniorthon’ in the city. The event will be held on November 17 for the younger kids’, where the children in the age bracket of 3 to 11 years can participate. The Juniorthon will be held from 7 am till 9:30 am the reporting time will be 6:30 am. Yadvinder Singh, CEO, Sports-13 briefed, “Juniorthon is all about children running towards a healthier future and supporting a good cause - ‘Fit India’. Parents of interested childen can register by logging onto townscript or by calling 9877823377, a number specially dedicated to address inquiries about the event.” The children can also register themselves at an expo which will be held at Elante Mall from 11 am to 8 pm on November 15(Friday). The children will also be able to participate in a talent hunt. Prizes will be given to winners too. The children who register will get a free ice cream from twisting scoops and a free ride coupon from fun city. Yadvinder further said, “The goal of Juniorthon is to encourage outdoor activities and physical fitness amongst children by giving them an opportunity to accomplish the goal of running. We seek to promote the need for every child to play outdoors for his or her physical, social and emotional well-being.” It is noteworthy that Juniorthon event is conceptualized and is being organized by Sports-13- A sports Management Company to promote sports and health in India. The children registering will participate in three running categories respectively according to the age group for both boys & girls. The age groups and race segments are - 3 to 5 years old -500 meters, 6 to 8 years old – 750 meters and 9 to 11 years old – 1.5 km. During the event, the children will be completely taken care by the expert team of Sports-13 with running Marshals and their hydration, medical, and security shall be taken care of. Yadvinder Singh sums up, “After the Juniorthon, a sports carnival will also be held inside the Northridge International School Sector-46 Chandigarh’s campus from 1:30-5:30 pm the reporting time for sports carnival will be 1:30 pm. In this children will participate in sports and fun activities. Gifts worth Rs 35000 will be given to winners of Juniorthon and Sports Carnival. We have also made arrangements at the school on the day of Juniorthon and Sports Carnival for the participating children to meet their favourite characters - Doraemon and Chhota Bheem.”
