First ‘shramik express’ with 1188 passengers to move from Ferozepur Cantt railway station on Thursday evening: DC
Punjab government to bear Rs. 6 lakh cost of this train from state exchequer, more trains to follow soon
Ferozepur: In a major reprieve for the migrant laborers desirous of moving to their native state, the first train ‘Shramik Express’ carrying the passengers from Ferozepur to Kanpur in Utter Pradesh would move on Thursday evening at 1900 hours i.e. 7 pm.
The Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Mr. Kulwant Singh On Wednesday evening reviewed the arrangements for moving of this train from the Cantt Railway station. He said that the train, with 1188 passengers would move from the Ferozepur Cantt railway station with its running cost of about Rs. six lakhs will be borne by the Punjab government.
The deputy commissioner said that due to concerted efforts of Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh more such train would be moving from Ferozepur district ferrying thousands of migrant laborers to their home states as the running cost of these train will be borne by the state government.
He said that only those passengers who have enrolled themselves on the portal of the state government and received SMS on their mobiles today late night or tomorrow morning would be entitled to move in the train adding the deputy commissioner said that all the passengers intended to board the train will be stayed at various locations in the district and the team of health department would conduct their health screening.
Mr. Kulwant Singh said that any unauthorized person trying to come to the Railway station would be dealt with sternly as per the curfew law. He said that passengers would have to carry their food and water along with them. The deputy commissioner directed the police department to ensure foolproof security at the railway station and other related premises.
