Rohtak, May 6, 2026: Director, Census Operations Haryana, Dr. Lalit Jain reviewed the progress of Census 2027 preparations in Rohtak and directed officials to ensure completion of the first phase of house listing by May 30, 2026 within the prescribed timeline.
Chairing a review meeting along with Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar and other officers, Dr. Jain emphasized that Census 2027 is being conducted digitally for the first time, making accuracy, real-time data entry, and monitoring extremely important.
Dr. Lalit Jain instructed enumerators to enter data directly into the Census mobile application at the spot, avoid maintaining physical notes or diaries for later entry and ensure accurate and real-time digital data collection.
He said that the digital model will enhance transparency, efficiency and accuracy of census operations.
He also directed officials to ensure that no area remains uncovered during the survey process.
The Director informed that preparation of Nazri Maps and detailed house mapping is a key component of the first phase.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that around 60% Nazri Map work in the district has already been completed. The district administration has deployed 1731 enumerators and 40 supervisors for Census operations. He directed officers to ensure daily progress of at least 5% and completion of 70% house listing work by May 15.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta emphasized that all enumerators have been instructed to ensure correct and authentic information, high-quality digital data entry, and timely completion of field work.
He reiterated that the district administration is fully committed to completing Census operations efficiently and within schedule.
Dr. Lalit Jain directed that dedicated control rooms be established at the district level and field officers remain available for citizen assistance. He also informed that the Government has operationalized a toll-free helpline — 1855 — for Census-related queries, with four active lines functioning continuously.
Officials were instructed to ensure that enumerators use smartphones with Android Version 11 or above, as older devices will not support the Census application.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said, “Census 2027 is a significant national exercise and for the first time it is being conducted completely through digital platforms. Rohtak district is fully prepared to complete the process in a timely and systematic manner.”
He added, “Accurate census data forms the foundation for future policy planning and development initiatives. We are ensuring strict monitoring and quality-driven execution at every level.”
