Patiala, JUly 2,, 2026: Park Hospital, Patiala has successfully performed its first OCT-guided Rotatripsy procedure, marking a significant advancement in the treatment of complex coronary artery disease.

Dr. Arshdeep Singh Sandhu, Consultant Cardiologist said that the procedure was conducted on a patient with a severely calcified coronary artery, a challenging condition that can make angioplasty and stent placement difficult. To accurately assess the extent of calcium deposits, the cardiac team utilized Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an advanced imaging technology that provides detailed, high-resolution visualization from within the artery.

Based on the OCT findings, the team performed Rotatripsy, an innovative technique combining Rotational Atherectomy (Rotablation) and Intravavascular Lithotripsy (IVL). Rotablation was used to modify the hardened calcium deposits, while IVL shockwave therapy helped fracture the remaining calcium and improve vessel flexibility.

This advanced approach enabled optimal stent deployment and expansion, resulting in an excellent procedural outcome. The entire procedure was completed successfully without any complications.
