First compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station opens in Ludhiana
Ludhiana, October 4, 2019: In a good news, the supply of clean Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has started in the city. The first CNG filling station has been started in the city, at Sardar Bachan Singh HP Petrol Pump, Balloke. This filling station was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal in the presence of the company officials, CNG vehicle owners and environmentalists on Thursday. While providing information on the occasion, the company officials stated that CNG is a clean gas, the use of which increases the life of vehicle engine. Besides, it also reduces the cost of maintenance and service of the vehicle because as compared to petrol/diesel run vehicles, its service gets due after comparatively much longer time. They stated that the average of the vehicle also increases and that is why, the vehicle owner has to pay much lesser operating costs. They further informed that prior to the opening of this CNG filling station, vehicle owners had to visit either Doraha or Phillaur for filling up their vehicle tanks. While speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said that due to increasing pollution levels, there is a need that maximum people should shift to CNG fuelled vehicles. He said that efforts would be made to ensure that more such CNG filling stations should be opened in other parts of the city as well.
