Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajneesh Arora welcomes NRI Ranbir Singh Sodhi.

Kapurthala, February 20, 2013: The Governor of North European country Finland’s Vantaa City Council and newly appointed Chairman of Education Board NRI Ranbir Singh Sodhi visited Punjab Technical University (PTU) on Wednesday.

Punjabi NRI Ranbir Singh Sodhi is originally a resident of Dhuri in Sangrur district.

He was in Jalandhar on a personal visit.

He contacted Punjab Technical University in order to understand the possibilities of signing a memorandum between PTU and Finland. Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajneesh Arora welcomed NRI Ranbir Singh Sodhi and Dean Academic Dr. Buta Singh introduced him to the university officials.

Governor of Council Ranbir Singh Sodhi told that education is free in Finland. The Government of Finland takes the responsibility of education of every child born there. The residents of Finland, who are involved in Lift and Paper Making activities, are not attracted towards other countries where education is a part of industrial culture. This is the main reason of their attraction towards Indian technical education.

Ranbir Sodhi said that if both countries sign an MOU related to education, then the students of both the countries will be benefitted in future. He also said that if an MOU is signed between PTU and Finland, then the best infrastructure will be provided by PTU to the students of Finland.

Vice Chancellor of PTU Dr. Rajneesh Arora told Sodhi about the technical education in Punjab, the availability of seats and industrial concerns and said that if any proposal of MOU will come from Finland, PTU will definitely consider the matter.

Dean Academic Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu and Registrar Dr. H.S. Bains suggested to initiate students, researchers and faculty exchange programme between the two countries.

The coordinator of the meeting was Assistant Librarian Madhu Midha and in this meeting Dean RIC Dr. A. P. Singh, Dean College Development Dr. Balkar Singh, Director Finance S.K. Mishra and Principal Dr. Sukhwinder Singh were also present.
