Heritage Film, “Last Evening of the Last Sikh Emperor on the Land of Punjab” released on the eve of 130th death anniversary of Maharaja Duleep Singh at the Festival of Thetford, Elvenden in England. 

Film depicting the Punjab tourism heritage location, “Bassian Kothi” a 200-years-old monument having relevance with the last Sikh Emperor Maharaja Duleep Singh was released at the festival of Thetford in England by Essex Cultural Diversity Project, UK. The film highlights the Museum, Interpretation Centre, Busts and Statues of last Sikh Ruler situated in District Ludhiana. The film was screened during a special show held in the St. Andrews & St. Patrics Church, Elvenden. Peter Bance, Historian, Researcher & Sikh fellow from England along with Director of the Essex Cultural Diversity Project Indi Sandhu and segment of Indian Community were present during screening of film show. The film has been directed by Ludhiana based Heritage Promoter and Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu who was also present during the release of film in England by Essex Cultural Diversity Project to the Festival of Thetford 2023.  The Film has created a landmark by establishing link between the historical monument “Bassian Kothi”, in Punjab and the Heritage trail of Maharaja Duleep Singh in Elvenden East of England.


It has happened for the first time that the Indian community settled in United Kingdom have come to know that there is a significant historical monument in Punjab i.e. “Bassian Kothi” having relevance with Maharaja Duleep Singh.  Film Director Harpreet Sandhu has this way promoted the 200 year old heritage site of Punjab tourism at the Festival of Thetford in England and he also paid homage at the grave of Maharaja Duleep Singh in Thetford Elvenden.

Peter Bance Global Historian, Indi Sandhu Director Essex Cultural Diversity Project and other prominent personalities present during the screening of film appreciated the herculean efforts of Harpreet Sandhu for coming all the way from India and participating in the festival of Thetford and Punjab to promote the Punjab tourism location "Bassian Kothi" within the Indian Dispora settled in United Kingdom and the film will be an eye opener for the Punjabi community based in England and encourage them to visit this significant Heritage monument during their next tour to their native places in Punjab, which will further help promote tourism in the State of Punjab.
