FIEO Welcomes PM’s Strategic Visit to Japan and China
Eyes Enhanced Bilateral Trade & Export Growth: FIEO President

New Delhi, August 29, 2025: The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) welcomes the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s official visit to Japan and China, recognizing it as a crucial step toward strengthening India’s trade and export ties with two of Asia’s largest economies, said S C Ralhan, President, FIEO.
At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the PM is visiting Japan for the 15th Annual Summit, a key platform to take forward the Special Strategic and Global Partnership that has matured over the last eleven years. This visit is expected to further deepen economic collaboration, especially in the areas of trade, technology, and investment, added Mr Ralhan.
The PM’s discussions in Japan are expected to focus on:
• Expanding bilateral trade volumes, particularly in manufactured goods, services, and technology-driven sectors.
• Enhancing Japanese investments in Indian infrastructure, MSMEs, and startups.
• Facilitating technology partnerships in Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
Japan is a key export market for India, particularly for sectors like automobiles, pharmaceuticals, marine products, textiles, and engineering goods. FIEO anticipates that this visit will encourage Japanese businesses to explore the vast potential of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Export from India’ initiatives, reiterated S C Ralhan.
Following the Japan visit, the PM will travel to Tianjin, China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, hosted by President Xi Jinping. India, as an active and forward-looking member of the SCO, has introduced several initiatives in innovation, health, and cultural exchange during its presidency.
The SCO platform provides a valuable opportunity for India to:
• Engage in dialogue on regional economic cooperation.
• Address non-tariff barriers and explore avenues to rebalance bilateral trade with China.
• Promote Indian exports in high-potential sectors such as organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, IT services, textiles, and agricultural products.
China continues to be one of India’s largest trading partners. FIEO strongly supports efforts to enhance market access for Indian exporters, reduce the trade deficit, and encourage mutual investments in key sectors, also added FIEO Chief.
FIEO President, S C Ralhan said that the Prime Minister’s twin visits to Japan and China have come at a time when India is positioning itself as a global manufacturing and export hub. Strengthening bilateral trade with these economic giants will open new doors for Indian exporters, particularly MSMEs, in high-growth sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, green energy, and digital technologies.”
FIEO is confident that the high-level discussions will lead to new trade facilitation measures, improved market access, and stronger economic diplomacy, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a $2 trillion export economy by the end of the decade.
