FIEO Felicitates Outstanding Exporters of Northern India at the 9th & 10th Northern Region Export Excellence Awards
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) organised the 9th and 10th Set of Northern Region Export Excellence Awards on December 23, 2025 in New Delhi to honour outstanding exporters for their exemplary contribution to India’s export growth. The prestigious awards were presented by Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
New Delhi, December 23, 2025: The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) organised the 9th and 10th Set of Northern Region Export Excellence Awards on December 23, 2025 in New Delhi to honour outstanding exporters for their exemplary contribution to India’s export growth. The prestigious awards were presented by Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Instituted to recognise excellence and encourage high-performing exporters at the state level, FIEO’s Regional Export Excellence Awards celebrate enterprises that have demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation, quality consciousness, and global competitiveness. The Northern Region, comprising Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh, continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s export performance.
While addressing the gathering, Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry congratulated the awardees and lauded their resilience and contribution to the national economy. He noted that despite persistent global uncertainties, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical challenges, India has maintained a strong and resilient export performance.
He stated that the overall exports increased by 5.43% in the first 8-months of the fiscal, while the merchandise exports increased to USD 292 billion during the period compared to the same period during previous fiscal. Strength of the exports sector will further help in achieving the USD 2 trillion by 2030. This performance has been driven by strong growth across sectors such as electronics, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, IT services, petroleum products, agriculture, and processed foods, highlighting the diversification and technological depth of India’s export basket.
Agrawal reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to creating a stable and facilitative policy environment through the Foreign Trade Policy, focusing on trade facilitation, digitalisation, reduced compliance burden, and seamless integration into global value chains. He highlighted the positive impact of paperless systems in improving ease of doing business and reducing transaction costs. Commerce Secretary further added that the Govt is planning to come with Bharat Trade Net to further reduce the compliance burden in continuance of the Trade Connect Portal.
He also outlined India’s expanding global trade engagement through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) concluded with the UAE, Australia, the UK, Oman and New Zealand, while noting significant progress in negotiations with the European Union, United States, Israel, Chile, Peru, and the Eurasian Economic Union.
S. C. Ralhan, President, FIEO, congratulated all award recipients and applauded their entrepreneurial spirit and global competitiveness. He noted that despite challenges such as geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, commodity price volatility, and economic slowdowns in key markets, Indian exporters have successfully tapped emerging opportunities in Africa, Latin America, West Asia and Southeast Asia.
He highlighted strong growth potential in sectors including electronics, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, textiles, processed food, agriculture, and green technologies.
Arvind Goenka, Regional Chairman (Northern Region), FIEO in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Commerce Secretary, senior officials, dignitaries, and awardees. He highlighted the Northern Region’s strong export base across textiles, handlooms, carpets, sports goods, engineering goods, handicrafts, automobiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT services, and e-commerce.
He noted that Northern States have adopted proactive export-led development initiatives, with State Export Promotion Policies and District Export Action Plans under the “Districts as Export Hubs” initiative. Key states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttarakhand collectively contribute over USD 70 billion in exports annually.
He further informed that the focused initiatives such as cluster development, ODOP-linked exports, logistics parks, and exporter facilitation cells are empowering MSMEs, artisans, and first-time exporters to access global markets and generate large-scale employment.
Dr Ajay Sahai, DG & CEO, FIEO, in his concluding remarks, emphasised the need for exporters to strengthen procedures, adopt advanced technologies, build world-class logistics, and diversify markets and products. He underscored that India’s strengths in digital infrastructure, 5G expansion, digital payments, sustainable manufacturing, and skilled manpower will drive the next phase of export growth and contribute to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
The 9th & 10th Northern Region Export Excellence Awards 2025 celebrated the exceptional achievements of exporters who have made significant contributions to India’s trade growth. FIEO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting exporters, promoting new opportunities, and partnering with the Government to help India emerge as a leading global trading nation.
