FICO Welcomes Inauguration of Halwara Airport
The Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organization (FICO) has wholeheartedly welcomed the upcoming inauguration of the Ludhiana Airport at Halwara by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27.

Ludhiana, July 22, 2025: The Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organization (FICO) has wholeheartedly welcomed the upcoming inauguration of the Ludhiana Airport at Halwara by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27.
Terming it a landmark development, FICO said the airport will significantly boost Ludhiana’s economic and industrial growth. The industrial city has long awaited a functional airport, with the business community persistently raising this demand for years.
Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, FICO, said Ludhiana — one of North India’s largest industrial and trading hubs — has been at a disadvantage due to the lack of direct air connectivity. Industrialists have often been forced to travel to Delhi, Chandigarh, or Amritsar to catch domestic and international flights, causing both time and financial losses.
FICO Chairman K.K. Seth welcomed the opening of the Halwara terminal but underlined the need for clarity on flight schedules and air connectivity. “We strongly urge the authorities to ensure regular domestic flights to major cities. We also hope international air connectivity is introduced in the near future,” he said.
FICO thanked the Prime Minister and the government for addressing this long-pending demand and expressed hope that the airport would become fully operational at the earliest.
