Ludhiana, December 13, 2025: Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization (FICO) has expressed its sincere gratitude to Sanjeev Arora, Power Minister, Punjab, for his prompt intervention and immediate resolution of the issue concerning the demand raised by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for depositing fixed charges that were waived during the COVID-19 period.
Earlier, PSPCL had asked Medium Supply (MS) and Large Supply (LS) industrial consumers to deposit the fixed charges which were waived off as a relief measure during the COVID-19 pandemic. FICO had strongly objected to this move, stating that the waiver was granted by the Government of Punjab as a final relief during an unprecedented humanitarian and economic crisis, and not as a temporary deferment. During the pandemic, industries across Punjab faced severe challenges with prolonged shutdowns, disrupted supply chains, and acute financial stress. The waiver of fixed charges had played a crucial role in sustaining industries and preserving employment during those difficult times.
Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO, appreciated the Power Minister’s proactive approach and sensitivity towards the concerns of the industrial sector. He stated that the immediate clarification and resolution have restored confidence among industrial consumers and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting industry-led growth in Punjab.
