FICO met Municipal Commissioner and discussed problems faced by the industry

Ludhiana, April 24, 2026: A delegation of Industrialists under the Leadership of Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO (Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization) met Neeru Katyal Gupta, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, and discussed in detail the problems being faced by the industrialists.
The delegation pointed out that the garbage from nearby areas and labour quarters is being thrown on the roadsides of the focal points, making focal points look like the dumping grounds. This creates very dirty and unhealthy conditions. As industrialists, the industrialists feel embarrassed to bring international clients to our factories because of the scattered garbage. It urged to look into this matter and take necessary action to improve cleanliness in these areas.
It was requested that proper garbage dumps and static compactors be installed in the focal points of Ludhiana, to curb the garbage menace in the Focal Points.
Regarding street lights in industrial areas, the delegation said there are around 2200 points for the street lights in focal points and none of them is operational, resulting in the rise of theft and snatching incidents in these areas. The street lights also need immediate attention.
Regarding beautification of green belts, the delegation mentioned that even the industrial green belts have been dumped with garbage in the focal points, there is an urgent need to curb the garbage scattering, and beautification of the green belts. It was suggested that the green belts should be allotted to the industry to adopt and develop the green areas in the Focal Points, this will also cure the rising pollution in the area.
On the issue of illegal truck and trailor parking, the delegation apprised the Municipal Commissioner that many roads in the Focal points have been used as illegal parking for trucks and trailers throughout the year especially on the roads connecting the container depots like Dhandari to Jeevan Nagar, Dhandari to Sherpur, Dhandari to Focal point, leaving almost single lane for traffic to flow, and ultimately causing the congestion in the traffic flow. It is suggested that the space under the high-tension electricity wires can be utilized for the truck and trailer parking.
The issue related to encroachment in focal points was also discussed. It was mentioned that there are many encroachments in the shape of jhuggis, and fadi/ thella, in many locations of the focal point, which are promoting the illegal activities in the areas, these must be removed on war footing.
