FICO Meets Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana on LPG Supply Issue
A delegation of FICO, led by Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, along with Jatinder Mittal, Chairman UCPMA, Harpal Singh Bhamber, Head FICO Bicycle Division, and Gurmukh Singh Rupal, Head FICO Sewing Machine Division, met Himanshu Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana, and submitted a memorandum regarding shortage of LPG supply for industries and industrial canteens.

Ludhiana, March 18, 2026: A delegation of FICO, led by Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, along with Jatinder Mittal, Chairman UCPMA, Harpal Singh Bhamber, Head FICO Bicycle Division, and Gurmukh Singh Rupal, Head FICO Sewing Machine Division, met Himanshu Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana, and submitted a memorandum regarding shortage of LPG supply for industries and industrial canteens.
The delegation said that due to the recent Israel–Iran conflict and its effect on oil and gas supply, the Government has restricted LPG use mainly to domestic, hospitals, and defence sectors.
FICO highlighted that industries work on a “just-in-time” system and do not keep extra stock like households. Because of this, many industries in Ludhiana are facing serious problems.
Main Problems include heat treatment, forging, cycle parts, and hosiery units using LPG as clean fuel have stopped or slowed down production for the last 5 days; and industrial canteens are unable to cook food for workers due to non-availability of LPG.
Suggestions given by FICO were as under: allow limited supply of 422 kg industrial LPG cylinders so industries can continue working; allow 19 kg LPG cylinders for industrial canteens to prepare food for workers; and buffer stock of 10% should be maintained for critical needs.
Kular said that there is a high need for industry to operate to keep the economic circle moving, otherwise the employment will suffer and so will the employees, this should also be prioritized.
FICO requested immediate action to avoid further losses and ensure smooth functioning of industries.
