Ludhiana, November 6, 2025: A delegation of the Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization (FICO), led by Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, met Er. Jagdev Singh Hans, Chief Engineer – Central Zone, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), and submitted key demands concerning recent policy changes and power supply issues.
Gateway Charges on Online Payments
Previously, a cap of ₹280 was applicable on gateway charges for electricity bill payments made online through credit cards. However, the recent revision imposes a 0.72% charge on the total payment amount, which has become highly burdensome for the industry.
For instance, on a payment of ₹10,00,000, the new charges amount to ₹7,200 + 18% GST = ₹8,496, making it financially unviable for industrial consumers.
FICO strongly urged PSPCL to roll back the revised charges and reinstate the earlier capped fee structure to reduce financial pressure on the industrial sector.
Uninterrupted Power Supply
FICO also emphasized the need for uninterrupted and reliable power supply to industrial areas. The delegation suggested the installation of model transformers—beginning with the Focal Points—to ensure continuous electricity and smooth industrial operations.
