FICO demands restoration of registries within municipal corporation limits

Ludhiana, October 24, 2025: Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization (FICO) has strongly demanded the immediate restoration of property registries within the Municipal Corporation (MC) limits of Ludhiana from Chief Minister Punjab.

Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO along with Manjinder Singh Sachdeva General Secretary FICO highlighted that all streets and areas under the MC limits are already declared and governed by the Municipal Corporation and Town Planning authorities. At the time of property registration, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) is being demanded from either the Improvement Trust, the Municipal Corporation or the GLADA, which has made the registration process unnecessarily complicated. To facilitate the citizens within the city, FICO urged that registries within Municipal Corporation limits should be reopened without delay. The Municipal Corporation can conveniently recover any pending development or layout charges at the time of map approval, instead of linking them to the registry process. Same is the Case with the Land falling under Industrial Zone.

FICO further pointed out that the current practice of seeking NOCs during the registration process has led to unauthorized demands and harassment, creating significant inconvenience for citizens and industrialists alike. The organization emphasized that the process must be simplified and made transparent in the interest of ease of doing business and public welfare.
