FICO demanded quality power from government

Ludhiana, July 13, 2023: Today, a meeting of the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organizations (FICO) was held under the leadership of K. K. Seth, Chairman, and Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, where FICO demanded quality power from the Government of Punjab along with the under-noted demands to boost the industries in Punjab. FICO also demanded that the government must ensure the uninterrupted 24X 7 Power Supply to industry, there are 6-hour long cuts being imposed on industry in the name of minor breakdowns.

Quality Power instead of Quality Meters: PSPCL has recently imposed the Quality Meters on the Power Intensive Large Supply Connections, which will Harmonically pick the maximum load on every phase. The maximum load will be picked from a single phase, rather than the average of loads on all three phases. This will only increase the cost of electricity for the industries, which has been hiked twice in the past few months.
FICO demanded that the PSPCL focus on the quality of power that they are feeding the industry with as there are unscheduled power shedding, voltage fluctuations, and unplanned cuts being imposed on the industry, which are causing a huge financial loss to the industry.

Industrial Regularization Certificates:
It has been observed that more than 900 industrial units are there whose NOC or regularization certificate is pending, even though they have deposited the mandatory fees years ago, Industrialists are being informed that there is no policy to issue the same for the registration of land done after 2018. The Director of Factories should take the matter seriously and issue the necessary regularization Certificate to the industrialists who have already deposited the necessary Fee.

Waiver on Fixed Charges for MSMEs:The practice of a two-way Tariff by PSPCL is unjustified, when the industry is paying for the electricity units it has consumed, obtaining the fixed charges is unjustified; the fixed charges must be applicable only when there is no consumption. Moreover, the industry falling under the MSME Sector must be exempt from paying the fixed charges to boost industrial growth in the state of Punjab.
