FICO demanded an immediate resolution to traffic congestion in Ludhiana city

Ludhiana, January 19, 2023: The Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization (FICO) demanded an immediate resolution to the ever-rising problem of Traffic Congestion in Ludhiana, especially on the Gill Road, Atam nagar flyover, and adjoining roads; from District Administration and MCL Authorities.

Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO said that Ludhiana is completely choked up with traffic, be it Gill Road, be it Atam Nagar Flyover, be it Sangeet Cinema Road connecting Industrial Area B, be it Cheema Chowk, be it Ferozepur Road the situation is worse. The repair and maintenance works have started simultaneously resulting in a bottleneck in traffic flow resulting in huge congestion on the roads and adjoining service lanes. Even the Emergency Services cannot move through the areas. The City administration should immediately resolve this issue as it is affecting each and every resident of Ludhiana.

K.K. Seth Chairman FICO said the traffic in Ludhiana chokes up as most of the roads here are closed down for construction. It seems that there is no planning to manage the flow of traffic, and all the roads are dug up at a time, leaving no option for the people to divert but to crawl like a snail on blocked roads. Moreover, the ruthless Buses honking their pressure horns make the commute even more difficult for the small traffic. This matter is of grave concern for the residents of the city, the Administration should immediately look into the matter and provide suitable diversions to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the city.

Manjinder Singh Sachdeva Senior Vice President FICO said that there is a high need to control traffic manually,  as manual traffic management is the only means to control the current chocked up traffic situation in the city.

Rajeev Jain General Secretary FICO said that all the repair and maintenance work needs to be done at night hours, which will allow the smooth flow of traffic during the day hours.

Gurmukh Singh Rupal Head FICO's Sewing Machine division said that the movement of Buses needs to be restricted within the city, especially on the roads under maintenance, as they lead to deadlocks on the already bottlenecked roads.
