Jalandhar, August 7, 2025: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, the premier academic institution of North India, celebrated the festival ‘Teej’, dedicated to girls. Folk songs, gidha, group dance etc. were performed by the students.

Principal Dr. Suman Chopra participated in this program as the chief guest, who was welcomed by the staff with bouquets of flowers. Speaking during the program, Principal said that the college's celebration of the festival dedicated to daughters is a sign of respect for women and it is certainly a commendable step today. She further stated that girls are contributing more and more in every field which is a matter of great pride for our society. She further said that our students are glorifying the name of our institution by performing well in academic, cultural, music and sports. She added that Punjabi culture is very rich and we should feel proud to be associated with it. She congratulated all the Punjabis on this cultural festival.

Presenting the cultural program Arju and Neha, students of the Department of Music, gave a presentation of folk song Ratti and Jugni. While Sandeep and Rekha Rani of the non-teaching staff performed dance. Similarly, group dance, folk dance Giddha, were presented by the college students.

On this occasion, the college campus was decorated with Punjabi phulkaris and dupattas and stalls of kheer, henna, Churriyan, Nail Art Beauty etc. were also set up.

During the program, the swing in multi color was the center of attraction. On this occasion, Program Incharge Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, (Registrar and Head Department of Zoology) and congratulated the College Governing Council, principal, staff and all the students. She said that a society that respects women always makes progress.

During the program, Dr. Daljit Kaur and Prof. Preeti managed the stage well. On this occasion, Vice Principal Porf. Navdeep Kaur apart from the heads of various departments, all the staff and students of the college thoroughly enjoyed the festival.
