Chandigarh, October 24, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 5665376 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 5665376 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 5252914 tonnes of paddy (92.7%) till date whereas private traders procured 412462 tonnes (7.3%) of paddy. Till October 23, PUNGRAIN had procured 1539224 tonnes (29.3%) whereas MARKFED procured 1248291 tonnes (23.8%). PUNSUP procured 1187795 tonnes (22.6%), PSWC procured 503225 tonnes (9.6%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 522261 tonnes (9.9 %) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 252118 tonnes (4.8%).
The spokesperson added that District Ferozepur with 631147 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 598788 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Moga Sahib 466596 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position. www.cityairnews.com
