Ferozepur, July 17, 2019: Taking a serious note of the water logging problem at Basti Tenka Wali railway underpass, the deputy commissioner Chander Giand has asked the railways authority to fix the drainage issue to ensure smooth traffic flow through this underpass.

In a written communiqué with Divisional Railways Manager (DRM) Ferozepur Division, the deputy commissioner has said that the underpass was got constructed by the railways from some contractor and the funds were provided by the state government.

Gaind further stated that on July 16, during heavy rain the whole underpass got filled with rainwater, which caused a huge hindrance in traffic flow and a car was seen submerged in rainwater at the underpass adding that the deputy commissioner said that the rainwater was pumped out by using fire brigade and other municipal council's recourses.

Since the monsoon is on peeks, the heavy rains are more likely to occur, thus keeping in view the gravity of the matter immediate steps need to be taken to resolve this problem, said the deputy commissioner.

Gaind has asked the railways authority to get this water logging cum drainage problem fixed by the contractor, whom this underpass had been constructed.

The deputy commissioner said that the DRM has expressed his concern and positive response over the issue. He hoped the issue will be taken up by the railways and a solution will be given soon as the underpass plays a crucial role to connect the Ferozepur city with the Ferozepur cantonment area.
