Feel the Joy of Giving: MC Ludhiana in associations with City Needs launch 'Daan Utsav'

Ludhiana, September 28, 2023: In order to help the needy persons in the society and to promote the concept of 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' (RRR), Municipal Corporation (MC) in association with City Needs NGO has launched 'Daan Utsav' in the city.

During the Daan Utsav, the residents can donate the used/old items at the 22 collection centres established in different parts of the city. These items would then be further distributed among the needy persons through NGOs.

Addressing a press conference in this regard at Circuit house on Thursday, MC Zonal Commissioner (Zone D) Jasdev Singh Sekhon and Founder of City Needs NGO Maneet Dewan stated that it is an annual event and residents are appealed to participate in 'Daan Utsav' at large.

Sekhon and Dewan stated that this year's 'Daan Utsav' has been launched under the guidance of MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi.

The residents can give a missed call at 78777-78803 to get the location of the nearest collection centre. A massive collection drive would also be launched under the 'Daan Utsav' from October 6 to 10.

More than 30 schools/colleges, three clubs, six industrial associations among others are part of the 'Daan Utsav'.

Sekhon stated that the donated items collected at these collection centres would be shifted to Indoor Stadium on Pakhowal road and these items would then be given to needy persons through 22 NGOs identified in the past. A distribution event would also be held on October 22.

The e-waste collected during the campaign would be given to recycling companies and revenue generated will be donated to NGOs by these companies.

This year, a special drive would also be launched wherein the youth would collect waste from their homes, factories and offices, which would be given to the civic body for recycling. This will also stop the hazardous waste from getting to the landfill site.

Maneet Dewan from City Needs, Brand Ambassador Indian Swachta League 2.0 Simrat Kathuria, Harleen Kaur from Act Humane, Rahul Verma from Sambhav Foundation, , Dicky Chabra from Philanthropy Club, Yash Pal Gupta from Bharat Vikas Parishad Vivekananda Sewa Trust and Mannat Kothari from Women Next Door among other members of the different NGOs stated that industrial associations like Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisation (FICO) among others are also part of the Daan 'Utsav'.

MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi appealed the residents to participate and donate the old/used items during the 'Daan Utsav', as the items which are no longer useful at our houses, can be helpful for others and put a smile on the face of needy persons.
