FDP on “Statistical Techniques using Softwares: A Practical Approach” begins

Chandigarh: 7 Day UGC-HRDC sponsored Faculty Development Programme on “Statistical Techniques using Softwares: A Practical Approach” (under RUSA) organized by the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh kick started here today. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Prof. Anil Kumar Singh, BHU, Varanasi.  They emphasized the importance of statistics in various fields including, Medical, Social and Biological sciences. The programme is intended to enrich the level of researchers in research methodology and analysis of data using most powerful and widely used software package like R, Python, AMOS, and SPSS. This course concentrates on transforming researchers into competent and confident users of statistical software to enable them to conduct independent data analysis by taking a more applied approach to conventional statistics. 
The FDP will also focus on multivariate statistical tools used in data analysis, from simple models to complex models. Today, Dr. Atul Juneja, Scientist-E, from NIMS-ICMR delivered lecturers on research design formulation and sample size calculations. Around 40 participants are attending this programme.
