Farmer Turns Paddy Stubble into Soil Wealth, Sets Example Against Stubble Burning

Ludhiana, October 5, 2026: Sukhwinder Singh, a progressive farmer from village Lakhowal in Block Mangat, has set an inspiring example of sustainable agriculture by incorporating paddy stubble into the soil instead of burning it.
Sowing potato crop on approximately 7 acres, Sukhwinder Singh adopted in-situ crop residue management under the In-situ IEC component. By retaining and incorporating paddy stubble into the soil, the farmer has demonstrated a practical alternative to stubble burning while contributing towards improved soil health and environmental protection.
His initiative sends a strong message to fellow farmers that paddy residue can be managed effectively and put to productive use rather than being set on fire. Such practices help reduce air pollution, conserve soil nutrients and promote sustainable farming.
Sukhwinder Singh’s efforts serve as an encouraging example for other farmers to adopt stubble-free burning practices and contribute towards a cleaner environment and healthier agricultural ecosystem.
