‘Prevention is better than cure’. With this thought in mind, an eye check-up camp to promote awareness about vision health and provide basic screening services to students was organised at the Horizon School of Excellence by a special team of doctors from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in collaboration with Seva Canada and Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH), Delhi, under the  Project ROSHANI (Restoring Optical Sight & Hope for a New India). Project ROSHANI, is a specialized initiative working to strengthen paediatric eye care services, aimed at preventing childhood blindness in Punjab.

Dr. Priyanka Arora, Professor of Ophthalmology led the initiative. Dr. Arora along with her specialised team of doctors conducted eye screening for all students. They highlighted the importance of early eye care and good vision practices. The team carried out basic eye screenings, checked visual acuity, and guided participants on identifying common vision problems. Free spectacles will be provided to students who require them. They also demonstrated simple eye exercises and shared tips on maintaining eye health, including proper screen usage, hygiene, and nutrition.

The School’s Principal, Jasdeep Kaur extended special thanks to the Vice Chairman of the school, Bipin Gupta for facilitating the eye check-up and to the team of doctors from DMC&H for sparing their precious time and promoting awareness about eye health and ensuring early detection of vision-related issues among students.

The primary objective of the camp was to create awareness about eye care, identify vision-related issues at an early stage, and encourage timely medical consultation.
