Extensive IEC Campaign to Prevent Paddy Stubble Burning in Ludhiana
An extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign is being carried out across Ludhiana district to sensitise farmers against paddy stubble burning and promote scientific crop residue management.
Ludhiana, October 6, 2026: An extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign is being carried out across Ludhiana district to sensitise farmers against paddy stubble burning and promote scientific crop residue management.
So far, 80 village-level and 2 block-level awareness camps have been organised, while 3 awareness vans are covering different parts of the district. Besides, 110 awareness banners have been displayed at mandis, around 10,000 pamphlets distributed and 5,000 WhatsApp awareness messages circulated. Awareness announcements have also been made at around 200 gurdwaras.
The campaign has also encouraged farmers to adopt Crop Residue Management (CRM) machinery. This year, 1,350 CRM machines have been purchased by farmers under subsidy, involving approximately Rs.20 crore in subsidy.
A district-level awareness campaign is scheduled at Raikot on Friday, October 9, to further sensitise farmers and encourage them to adopt sustainable alternatives to stubble burning.
