Extension of Export Incentives to Postal Shipments from 15 January 2026 – Major Boost to MSME and E-commerce Exports: S C Ralhan, President, FIEO
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has welcomed the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) decision to extend export incentives under Duty Drawback, RoDTEP and RoSCTL to exports made through the postal mode in electronic form, effective 15 January 2026.
New Delhi, January 16, 2026: The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has welcomed the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) decision to extend export incentives under Duty Drawback, RoDTEP and RoSCTL to exports made through the postal mode in electronic form, effective 15 January 2026.
S C Ralhan, President, FIEO, termed the move progressive and long awaited, noting that it will significantly strengthen MSME and e-commerce exports by providing a level playing field to small exporters, particularly those in smaller towns and remote regions who rely on postal channels.
He added that the decision will enhance competitiveness, reduce transaction costs and give a strong impetus to postal exports, an emerging driver of cross-border e-commerce. To operationalise the benefits, CBIC has amended the Postal Export (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2022, through Notification No. 07/2026–Customs (N.T.) and Circular No. 01/2026–Customs, both issued on 15 January 2026.
Ralhan further highlighted that these measures complement the Government’s broader reforms to promote e-commerce exports, including provisions under the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, end-to-end electronic processing of postal exports, automation of IGST refunds, the Hub and Spoke model, and over 1,000 Dak Niryat Kendras across the country.
The extension of export incentives to postal shipments, he said, is another key milestone in simplifying export procedures, promoting inclusive growth and strengthening India’s position in the global e-commerce landscape.
