Ludhiana, August 2: A monthly training camp of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Kisan Club was held today at Dr Borlaug Wheat Auditorium of the University.
During the camp, the PAU subject-matter specialists of entomology, floriculture and landscaping (F&L), zoology, business management and microbiology delved upon the insect pests of Kharif crops and their control measures, production of medicinal mushroom and agri-marketing practices with thrust on challenges and opportunities.
Besides, special emphasis was laid on cultivation of flower and landscaping, role of beneficial birds in agriculture and rural housing finance schemes for farmers. The resource persons included Dr J.S. Kolar (Entomology), Dr Ranjit Singh (F&L), Dr Tejdeep Kaur (Zoology), Dr Ramandeep Singh Jassal (Business Management), Dr Shammi Kapoor (Microbiology) and HDFC Bank experts.
Welcoming the speakers and the participants, the President of the Club, Mr PPS Pangli highlighted the strengths and opportunities for the club members.
The Coordinator of the Club, Dr T.S. Riar presented an overview of the PAU Kisan Club activities.
Meanwhile, the monthly meet of the women’s wing of the club will be held on August 3 at village Narangwal.
