DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology (DAVIET), Jalandhar organised an interactive session on  ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Happiness’ to create  awareness about the start-up ecosystem, create self-employment, upgrade entrepreneurs’ skills, and provide support to the students of the institution  to set up their units under professional guidance.

Expert Talk on ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Happiness’ organised at DAVIET

Jalandhar, April 13, 2023: DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology (DAVIET), Jalandhar organised an interactive session on ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Happiness’ to create  awareness about the start-up ecosystem, create self-employment, upgrade entrepreneurs’ skills, and provide support to the students of the institution  to set up their units under professional guidance.


The session was delivered by Shibananda Dash, Ex-Chief Executive Officer, IIM Kashipur. Dash is a multi-disciplinary person with his skills ranging from engineering, human psychology and marketing. He has guided more than 100 startups and one of his flagship startup on marine navigation and tracking satellites has been nominated for innovation award by Prime Minister of India. 


Dash interacted with the students and shared that India is the 3rd largest start-up community in the world, and is expected to become the 2nd largest by 2025. He shared valuable inputs regarding various business start-up aspects like the business idea, finance, planning & regulation, market research, cash flow forecasting & management which should be kept in mind to make it big in the business world who showcased their products. Dash gave a critical review of the student’s projects based on his global experience and suggested remedial actions for the improvement of their prototypes/ products.


He also briefed about the government schemes to boost start-ups in India. He also shared that the budding entrepreneurs need to create and fine-tune a business plan, assess their finances, complete all the legal paperwork, pick their partners, research apps for start-up growth, and choose the best tools and systems to help them get their marketing and sales off the ground.


Dr Sanjeev Naval, Principal DAVIET welcoming the resource person and shared that the institution has a start up Policy for students to benefit from the government’s lucrative policies. He also informed that the institution has provided space for the start-ups in the institution itself to start the business. He reiterated his belief that DAVIET had been taking strides in entrepreneurship development amongst the budding engineers & managers in the past and would continue to do so in future also as DAVIET reiterates it’s commitment towards “Engineering Futures Through Innovation”. He congratulated the team of Centre for Incubation and Entrepreneurship, especially Vishav Kapoor, Ratish Bhardwaj and Jasdeep Malhi for organizing the event successfully.
