Jalandhar, October 9, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized an extension lecture titled “Exploring the Quiet Side of Mental Health” to highlight the importance of emotional well-being, self-awareness, and healthy lifestyle practices in everyday life. The programme brought attention to the often-overlooked aspects of mental health and explored the interconnectedness of mental and physical well-being, offering valuable perspectives on the biological processes underlying human emotions and behavior.
The lecture was delivered by Sonu Aggarwal, Managing Director, ZenTree, Punjab, who shared insightful perspectives on understanding emotions, keeping emotional balance, and managing the challenges of daily life. She emphasized the importance of recognizing personal needs, developing healthy routines, and practicing grounding techniques to navigate stressful situations. She also highlighted the role of balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, regular physical activity, and positive thinking in supporting overall wellness. An interactive problem-solving activity encouraged participants to listen attentively, exchange perspectives, and approach everyday challenges with empathy and mutual understanding. The activity reinforced the importance of effective communication, emotional awareness, and supportive relationships in creating a positive environment.
Participants were also encouraged to practice self-care and seek right support whenever needed. The session also offered a scientific perspective relevant to the field of biotechnology by highlighting the role of neuroscience and neurobiology in understanding mental health. The discussion connected emotional responses and stress with the functioning of the brain and nervous system, including the role of neurotransmitters and physiological stress responses. These concepts illustrated how biological research can contribute to a deeper understanding of mood, cognition, behaviour, and the mind–body connection.
The discussion also highlighted the relevance of biotechnology-based research tools in investigating brain function and the biological mechanisms associated with mental well-being.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which Aggarwal addressed participants' queries and encouraged them to incorporate practical self-care and grounding strategies into their daily routines.
The programme was coordinated successfully, followed by a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the resource person for sharing her valuable insights.
Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, appreciated the initiative and commended the institution's efforts to promote awareness about mental well-being as an essential component of holistic development.
