Dharamsala, July 16, 2023: DC Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal said in a press release that BBMB administration has informed the district administration that water will be released from Pong reservoir today (July 16) at 4 pm. Therefore, the District Administration, Panchayats adjacent to the downstream area of Kangra's Pong dam appeal to all general public not to go near the river.


Dharamsala, July 16, 2023: DC Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal said in a press release that BBMB administration has informed the district administration that water will be released from Pong reservoir today (July 16) at 4 pm. Therefore, the District Administration, Panchayats adjacent to the downstream area of Kangra's Pong dam appeal to all general public not to go near the river.

DC Kangra said that 22300 cusecs water will be released from Pong Dam w.e.f July 16, 2023. The release may be increased up to 32000 cusecs by 17th July morning.

The District Collector said that heavy rains are continuing in all the districts of Himachal Pradesh. Recently, due to the release of water from the Pandoh Dam built on the Beas River, the water level of the Pong reservoir also on the Beas River in the state of Himachal Pradesh, just upstream of Talwara, has also increased, as a result, the BBMB administration today, at 4 pm Water will be released from Pong reservoir.

He has informed the public that if any person / livestock are near the river, then immediately take them to a safe place so that any disaster can be avoided. The District Administration, Kangra has asked the general public of the panchayats adjoining the downstream area to cooperate with the administration so that any disaster situation can be avoided. He said that be alert, be safe and avoid any kind of fear creating rumours.

In case of any disaster, immediately inform the local Panchayat Pradhan/Secretary/Patwari or inform on the number 1077 or mobile number 7650991077 of District Disaster Management Deputy Commissioner, Kangra.
