‘Every eligible adult must vote’: Kosli SDM Vijay Yadav; Voter Awareness Programme at MDU

Rohtak, October 15, 2026: Every eligible adult must register as a voter and exercise their franchise to strengthen democracy, Kosli SDM Vijay Yadav told students at a voter awareness programme at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Thursday.
Describing election management as a challenging administrative responsibility, Yadav explained the electoral process, the Election Commission’s role, the state government’s responsibilities and procedures for first-time voter registration.
The programme was organised jointly by the university’s Department of Political Science, Dean Students’ Welfare Office and Public Relations Office under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan – Seva Mera Yogdan series.
Yadav emphasised that voter registration and participation in elections are essential to strengthening democracy. He also briefed students on the process for first-time voter registration.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof Randeep Rana described voter awareness as an important initiative in the national interest. Department chairperson Dr Mamta Narwal said the programme aimed to familiarise students with voter registration and the role of elections in a democracy.
Public Relations Director Sunit Mukherjee said informed voters are the guardians of democracy and administered the voter pledge. Prof Rajendra Sharma urged students to register as voters and participate in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The programme was conducted by Sunit Mukherjee and research scholar Khushbu. Faculty members, research scholars and students attended the event.
