Eris Lifesciences Organises ‘Gastrothon 2025’ Walkathon in Amritsar to Drive Awareness on Gastrointestinal Health

Amritsar, December 4, 2025: Eris Lifesciences held its Gastrothon 2025: Step Up for Gastrointestinal Health walkathon this morning at Company Baugh (Lumsden Club) in Amritsar, bringing together gastroenterologists from Amritsar and nearby districts. The hour-long event, led by fitness advocate Milind Soman, aimed to draw attention to everyday digestive health and the growing need for early screening and lifestyle awareness.

Participants walked as a unified group to underline a simple message: GI health is shaped as much by daily habits as by medical intervention. With this initiative, Eris Lifesciences continues to work closely with specialists to highlight the importance of timely care and better community understanding of digestive concerns.

India has seen a steady rise in gastrointestinal complaints in recent years. A nationwide study published in 2022 reported that about 18% of adults had experienced some form of gastrointestinal discomfort[1]. A separate multicentric study published in 2024 looked at adolescents and found that about 15.85% of them were dealing with functional gastrointestinal disorders, many of which involved repeated abdominal pain. [2] Taken together, the two data sets show how widespread GI problems have become and reinforce the need for better awareness and early intervention across all age groups.

Commenting on the initiative, Amit Bakshi, Managing Director, Eris Lifesciences, said, “Gastrothon 2025 is our way of putting the spotlight back on preventive care and the need to talk more openly about gastrointestinal health. Digestive concerns are often ignored until they start affecting daily life, and that is something we hope to change. Through this walkathon, we want to remind people to pay attention to their gut health, make small lifestyle improvements, and reach out to their doctors at the right time.”

Leading the walkathon, Milind Soman emphasised the value of movement and preventive care, saying, “Good health begins with simple, consistent lifestyle choices. Walking is one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve overall fitness, including digestive health. I’m glad to join Eris Lifesciences in this meaningful initiative and encourage everyone to stay active and take charge of their well-being.”

Emphasizing on the importance of preventing the risks of serious GI diseases, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Organizing Secretory of ISG Con 2025, mentioned, "Many gastrointestinal disorders go undiagnosed because early symptoms are often ignored. We always urge people to pay attention to persistent discomfort, indigestion, or changes in bowel habits. Early detection and appropriate lifestyle modifications can significantly reduce the risk of serious GI diseases.”

The event served as a reminder that GI conditions, ranging from acidity, IBS, and functional abdominal pain to more complex disorders, are closely linked to everyday lifestyle patterns such as diet, stress, sleep and physical activity. With Gastrothon 2025, Eris Lifesciences hopes to reach doctors and the wider community, helping people recognize digestive problems early and take simple steps to keep their gut healthy.
