Ensuring uninterrupted supply of LPG during curfew/lockdown was  challenge in itself: DFSC

Ludhiana: Under the leadership of Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, the Department has worked hard during the curfew/lockdown in ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the residents. This information was provided by District Food & Civil Supplies Controllers (DFSCs) Ludhiana Mr Sukhwinder Singh Gill and Miss Harveen Kaur today.
    They informed that during the lockdown/curfew, the supply of essential commodities to residents was a challenge in itself. And the supply of LPG cylinders to each household was also important.
    While following the directions of Cabinet Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department Punjab continued the uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders even during curfew/lockdown. They informed that there are 115 gas agencies in district Ludhiana and the department officials formed special teams to ensure that the door to door supply of LPG continues.
    They said that during that time, booking of 18,55,083 cylinders was done, which was more than 50% than the usual demand. He said that with the hard work of department officials as well as staff of gas agencies that 18,50,621 cylinders were supplied and it is still going on. They said that the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department Punjab is committed in supplying all essential commodities to the residents.
    They said that under the Prime Minister Gareeb Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY), free ration is being provided to eligible Beneficiaries which includes 15 Kg wheat per member and 3 Kg pulses per family under scheme. They informed that special teams for checking are being made to ensure ration delivery to needy people. Total 19 ration depots have been suspended after finding discrepancies during checking performed. They said that all the department officials are working hard to ensure that ration reaches every needy person on time.
