Engineers’ Day Celebrated at UIET, Panjab University Chandigarh, September 15, 2026: The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated Engineers’ Day on Tuesday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya.

Chandigarh, September 15, 2026: Engineers’ Day Celebrated at UIET, Panjab University Chandigarh, September 15, 2026: The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated Engineers’ Day on Tuesday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The celebration marked the first formal inclusion of Engineers’ Day in the academic calendar of UIET, providing students an opportunity to interact with experts on contemporary engineering developments.
The programme was graced by Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University; Prof. Renu Vig, Former Vice-Chancellor; Prof. YP Verma, Registrar; Prof. Savita Gupta, Director, Research & Development Cell; and Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, UIET. The programme also paid tribute to Prof. Balwinder Singh Sohi for his foundational contribution to the establishment and development of UIET.
An expert lecture series was organised featuring Prof. Maninder Singh, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, on “Harnessing the Power of Modern HPC: From Silicon to Science”; Prof. Harpreet Singh, IIT Ropar, on “Introduction to Solid State Cold Spray Deposition”; and Dr. Neha, IIT Ropar, on “The Digital Revolution in Communication: Nanoantenna and Transistor Technology.” The sessions covered highperformance computing, smart manufacturing, advanced materials, semiconductor and communication technologies.
A blood donation drive was also organized during which 70 units of blood were donated adding a social-service dimension to the celebrations. The programme emphasised innovation, continuous learning, responsible use of technology and the role of engineers in addressing societal challenges.
