Enactus Team organizes insightful workshop on menstrual health and hygiene at girls Hostel no.1, PU

Chandigarh, January 24, 2024: Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University took a significant step towards promoting awareness and breaking taboos surrounding menstrual health by conducting a workshopon Menstrual Health & Hygiene at Girls Hostel No. 1, Panjab University in collaboration with Versatile Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. and Corporate Sustainability Council, Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CSC WICCI), Chandigarh, conveyedProf. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus team. Prof. Kapoor highlighted the significance of such events, stating that the mission at Enactus goes beyond entrepreneurship; it extends to community education and well-being.

The esteemed speaker for the workshop, Dr. Rajni Lamba, CEO, The Rural Environmental Enterprises Development Society (The REEDS) shared valuable insights on the importance of menstrual health and hygiene. Her expert talk aimed at educating and empowering young women, fostering a culture of openness and understanding about menstrual well-being. She motivated the participants to create awareness, break stigmas and gave various sustainable solutions for menstrual health and hygiene including the use of eco-friendly cloth based sanitary napkins, emphasizing their health & environmental benefits.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare (Women) expressed her appreciation for Enactus team for taking initiatives focusing on women's health and well-being. She conveyed that dedication to fostering positive change and addressing societal challenges by Enactus members exemplifies their commitment to creating an impact beyond the traditional boundaries of entrepreneurship.

Dr. Smita Sharma, Warden of Girls Hostel No. 1, Dr. Renuka  Salwan, President, CSC WICCI, Chandigarh & former Director Public Relations, wardens of other Girls Hostels, faculty members from various departments, residents of girl’s hostels and Enactus members actively participated in the workshop, demonstrating the community's keen interest in promoting a healthy dialogue around menstrual health, said Hakmeen Banoo, Social Media Head of Enactus team.

The event further unfolded with a thought-provoking skit and a captivating display of products crafted under various Enactus projects, which demonstrated the organization's commitment to turning entrepreneurial ideas into tangible solutions that benefit communities, conveyed Devendra, Technical Head of Enactus team. Shubham Dhiman, President of Enactus team brought a creative touch with a poignant poem that resonated with the audience, aiming to evoke reflection and foster empathy.
