Enactus PU brings Independence Day cheer to specially-abled children at Samarth Jiyo

Chandigarh, August 13, 2025: Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University hosted a heartwarming Independence Day Celebration Workshop at Samarth Jiyo, Sector 15, Chandigarh, to mark India’s 79th Independence Day. Samarrth Jiyo isa residential care facility dedicated to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The celebration embraced inclusion, sparked creativity and filled the day with patriotic joy for these treasured children of God, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of the Enactus team and Vice President of the Corporate Sustainability Council, Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CSC WICCI), Chandigarh.

Puneet Madan, a distinguished educator and passionate advocate for social impact, served as the resource person for the workshop, leading creative, hands-on activities inspired by India’s rich heritage and the spirit of the freedom struggle. Under her warm and encouraging guidance, the session transformed into a vibrant haven of colours, laughter and patriotic pride. She conducted an engaging flag-making activity in which the children crafted tricolours on chart paper using Fevicol and bright rangoli powders. The specially-abled participants immersed themselves wholeheartedly, carefully filling each stripe with vivid hues, their faces lighting up with every stroke. For the Enactus team, witnessing those unfiltered smiles and moments of pure joy was the most fulfilling reward of the celebration, expressed Muskan Sihag, President of Enactus team. Echoing her sentiments, Aayush Bhatt, Vice President (Strategic Planning), added that this workshop was not just about creativity but was a celebration of the unity and diversity that define our nation.
 
Muskanfurther shared that the team distributed cloth-based sanitary napkins to the staff and residents of Samarth, underscoring their environmental and health benefits compared to plastic-based alternatives. The initiative was supported by Versatile Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana.
 
Puja, General Secretary of Samarth along with the staff commended the Enactus team for bringing joy to the children and emphasized that such celebrations strengthen their confidence, sense of belonging and national identity.
 
The workshop concluded with patriotic songs, refreshments and lasting memories, reflecting Enactus PU’s mission of creating positive social impact through inclusive community engagement.
