Hoshiarpur, September 22, 2026: Marking a resolute commitment towards healthcare excellence, the University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (USPS) and University School of Pharmacy at Rayat Bahra Professional University (RBPU), Hoshiarpur—in association with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and Punjab Pharmacy Council—commenced the National Pharmacy Week and World Pharmacists Day Celebrations 2026 today.
The five-day celebration (September 21–25) is being organized under the central theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures”, placing a critical spotlight on “Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).” The initiative emphasizes the evolving role of pharmacists as frontline medication experts, patient advocates, and stewards in preventing antibiotic misuse.
The inaugural day witnessed vibrant student engagement through two signature events: a high-octane Pharma Quiz Competition and an insightful SciToons Competition. Students from D.Pharm, B.Pharm, Pharm.D, and M.Pharm actively participated, demonstrating sharp clinical acumen and scientific knowledge during the quiz. Meanwhile, the SciToons contest merged science with visual artistry, where students crafted impactful cartoons and narratives highlighting the dangers of self-medication, antibiotic overuse, and the urgent need for antimicrobial stewardship.
The celebrations were formally inaugurated by Dr. Chander Mohan, Vice Chancellor, RBPU, alongside Dr. Maninder Pal Singh, Director, USPS; Dr. Abhinav Anand; and Ms. Simarjit Kaur, Heads of Departments.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries underscored that empowering pharmacists with modern clinical competencies, social accountability, and public trust is vital for strengthening global healthcare. They commended the students’ innovative approach toward tackling public health challenges like AMR and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing socially conscious healthcare leaders.
The celebrations will continue through September 25, featuring a series of academic symposiums, community awareness drives, and interactive sessions.
