Dharamsala, January 3, 2023: Chief Parliamentary Secretary Ashish Butail, addressing the calves rally organized by the Animal Husbandry Department under the Progeny Testing Jersey Project in Kandawadi near Palampur on Wednesday, emphasized the government's commitment to addressing the challenges faced by animal rearing farmers. He highlighted the increasing income of animal rearing farmers from milk and milk products and the government's exploration of new, scientific growth approaches. The aim is to attract unemployed, educated youth to this sector, making animal husbandry a viable source of income.

Butail mentioned the initiation of the Doodh Ganga scheme, a Rs 500 crore initiative for cattle farmers. Under this scheme, milk will be collected from villages and transported to the chilling point at the cluster level. The government intends to fulfill all guarantees in a phased manner, prioritizing the well-being of the common people. Additionally, Butail announced plans for a day-boarding school in Kandwadi and emphasized the implementation of road construction projects for improved facilities, connecting Kulhani and Saperu to Padiyar Khar via Sarsaula, and from Kalauri Mata to Kathiyar-Gajiyara.

During the competition held on this occasion, 50 calves competed in two categories: 0 to 6 months and 6 to 12 months. Desh Raj's Jersey calf from Kandabadi secured the first position in the 0 to 6 months category, while Shri Vijay Kumar Saliana's Jersey calf stood first in the 6 to 12 months category. The Chief Guest awarded mementos, cash prizes, 50 kg feed, calcium, citations, and other animal products to all the winners.

The organizers provided information about various schemes administered by the Animal Husbandry Department. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries, including Assistant Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Anish Kumar, Divisional President of Block Congress, Trilok, and Senior Veterinary Officer Palampur.
